Terms of Service
Effective date: August 17, 2026 · Last updated: August 17, 2026
These Terms are an agreement between you and Behr Builds covering your use of Codex. By creating an account or using Codex, you agree to them.
1. What Codex is
Codex is a private, AI-assisted note-taking and campaign organization application operated by Behr Builds (New Jersey, United States) at codex.behrbuilds.com. It is intended primarily for organizing tabletop RPG campaign notes: lore entries, live session notes, and AI-assisted idea chats.
2. Age requirement
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or use Codex. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Codex only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms.
3. Your account
You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for keeping your credentials secure, and for all activity that occurs under your account. Do not share your account or let anyone else sign in as you. Tell us promptly at privacy@behrbuilds.com if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.
4. Your content and ownership
You own your original notes and creative content. Behr Builds does not claim ownership of your original campaign notes, characters, worldbuilding, or other original creative material you enter into Codex.
Limited license to operate Codex. So that Codex can work, you grant Behr Builds a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to host, store, copy, transmit, process, organize, index, display back to you, secure, and back up your content, and to send the relevant portions of it through the AI infrastructure described below when you use an AI-assisted feature. This license exists only to provide the Service to you and ends when you delete the content or your account (subject to short-lived operational backups). We do not use your content for advertising, and we do not use it to train our own models.
You are responsible for the content you enter. You represent that you have the necessary rights to store and process the material you put into Codex, and that doing so does not violate law or anyone else's rights. Codex is a private notebook and Behr Builds does not review, police, or determine ownership of material you privately type into your own notes.
5. AI-assisted functionality
Codex uses AI to help enter, organize, categorize, summarize, search, format, and manage your notes. When you use those features, relevant portions of your notes and prompts may be transmitted through Lovable's AI infrastructure and associated AI model providers.
AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inconsistent. It may misfile a note, misinterpret your intent, or invent details. Review AI-generated results before relying on them, and keep your own copies of material that matters. AI output is not professional advice of any kind.
Do not enter sensitive personal or confidential information — such as passwords, government IDs, financial or payment card details, or medical records — into Codex or its AI features.
6. Acceptable use
Your use of Codex is subject to our Acceptable Use Policy, which is part of these Terms. In short: use Codex lawfully, do not attack or abuse the Service or its infrastructure, do not attempt to access anyone else's account or data, and do not abuse the AI functionality.
7. Privacy and the private nature of notes
Your notes are private to your account. Codex currently has no public sharing of notes or campaigns and no user-to-user collaboration. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how it is handled.
8. Availability, pricing, and changes
Codex is provided on an ongoing best-effort basis. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features, and there may be downtime for maintenance, incidents, or infrastructure issues. We do not promise any specific uptime.
Codex is currently free. There are no paid subscriptions and no payment processing today. We may introduce optional paid features in the future; if we do, we will describe the terms and pricing before you are charged, and using paid features will always be your choice.
9. Data and backups
You are responsible for keeping your own copies of anything important. Use the Export My Data feature in your account settings to download your content. We may maintain routine operational backups, but we do not guarantee that lost, corrupted, or deleted content can be recovered.
10. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Codex at any time and may delete your account from your account settings. Deleting your account permanently deletes your account and associated campaign notes and data.
We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, that creates a security or legal risk, or where required by law. Where reasonable and lawful, we will try to give notice.
11. Third-party services
Codex depends on third-party infrastructure, including Lovable / Lovable Cloud for hosting, database, and authentication, Lovable's AI infrastructure and associated AI model providers for AI features, and Google for Google Sign-In if you choose it. Your use of those services through Codex is also subject to their terms, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
Codex is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted or error-free operation, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Behr Builds will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising from or relating to your use of Codex.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Behr Builds' total aggregate liability arising from or relating to Codex will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid Behr Builds for Codex in the twelve months before the claim (currently zero, because Codex is free) or (b) fifty US dollars (US$50).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
14. Our intellectual property
Codex — including its software, design, interface, and the Codex and Behr Builds names and logos — belongs to Behr Builds and is protected by intellectual property law. These Terms do not grant you any right to copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell, or create derivative works of Codex, except as allowed by law.
15. Third-party tabletop game trademarks and IP
Codex is an independent note-taking and campaign organization application. Codex is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or approved by Wizards of the Coast, Hasbro, Darrington Press, Critical Role, or any other tabletop game publisher. Third-party trademarks and intellectual property remain the property of their respective owners. Codex does not provide or distribute official game rules or sourcebook content.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You and Behr Builds agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in New Jersey for any dispute not resolved informally, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Codex changes. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the app where appropriate. Continuing to use Codex after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
